GUAC host Secretary of State for Work and Pensions

In late September Give us a Chance met with Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Rt Hon Damian Green MP, to showcase the work of our members, and to highlight the important role that housing organisations play in helping their tenants into employment.

At the meeting, GUAC lead Lynsey Boother, took the opportunity to inform Mr Green of the key priorities for housing organisations when it comes to employment support, and shared the GUAC / ERSA joint plan for improving employment support provision.

The visit, which included GUAC member Yarlington Housing Group, showcased a leading employment initiative, “Inspired to Achieve” (i2A), which has helped over 200 Yarlington HG residents into employment over the past 12 months.

GUAC at NHF

GUAC attended NHF’s annual conference in Birmingham, to showcase the work of GUAC and our members, and to help share insights and experience from our work.

At conference, GUAC and ERSA hosted a joint workshop entitled “Homes and Jobs: options on bidding, integrating and blending housing and employment services across localities”, and engaged delegates with discussions on the Work and Health programme, lottery funding and the apprenticeship levy.

We also took the opportunity to launch our new guide to GUAC, which helps to explain the work of GUAC and our members to key stakeholders. To download a copy, click here.
