Did you know Maine is ranked:
#2
in Fishing
#21 in Food Processing
#26 in Agriculture
#49 in Livestock Processing

Maine's national rankings are based on the concentration of workers in these industries, according to a recently released report from the Harvard Kennedy School which looked at traded food industries in Maine's economy.

Growing Maine's Food Industry, Growing Maine: Highlights from the Maine Food Cluster Project presents economic data and information from a survey of more than 300 Maine businesses. The report highlights the fragmentation that exists in Maine's food industry support system and notes the absence of a "broadly-accepted action plan focused on growing Maine food enterprises and employment" that could help drive development in the sector.
