After an exciting press conference at on Tuesday, The Maine Food Strategy is now releasing the Framework: A tool for advancing Maine's food system.

This document was developed over years of stakeholder input across many platforms, and synthesizes that information in five goals, 13 leverage areas, and many action items.
Find the document through this link, and on our website along with ways to engage with implementation of the Framework. A big thank you to Allagash Brewing Company for hosting the press conference and supporting the initiative, and to Veggies for All and for their participation.

Be a Navigator!
The Maine Food Strategy is now taking nominations for its 2016-2017 steering committee. This group advises the initiative and provides guidance and direction. The committee is looking for new members that can expand the initiative’s connections. Follow this link for more information and find the nomination form here.
EXTENSION: The deadline to submit nominations is August 30.
In conjunction with the release of the Framework, we’re connecting with prospective partners. Roll up your sleeves and join one of the meetings below to look at how to advance priorities in the Framework. Participants are asked to fill out a pre-meeting survey, linked here.

  • August 24, 3-6 p.m., Good Shepherd Food Bank, Auburn. An informational tour of the facility will be held from 2-3 p.m.
  • September 7, 12-1:30 p.m., by webinar 
On Sept. 22, subcommittees will be reconvened with a focus on action. Former subcommittee participants and other interested individuals are invited to a look at areas of collaborative work and next steps for implementing recommendations in the Framework.
