Next Wave Festival 2016

Welcome to Next Wave Festival 2016

Last night we launched our Next Wave Festival 2016 program. It is a diverse collection of works – performances, exhibitions, publications, interactions and experiences – that will be held across Melbourne between 5-22 May.
This Festival explores the interconnectedness between all things. It’s about coexistence and nearness and inheritance and disagreement and love. Every element of the Festival reflects this – from the structure of our program guide, anchored by maps showing the nearness of one project to another, to Worm Hole – our online publication that illuminates the atmosphere between the ideas, artists and projects in this Festival.
In my introductory note for this Festival (which you can read in full here), I suggest that you "direct your attention to the paths you take between works you encounter; notice frictions and affinities between experiences. Focus on the questions that surface, and as more bubble up, seek out the ones that keep repeating." The best way to do this is to dive in. Immerse yourself.
