The first Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation Transportation Committee
of the year will be on Thursday, January 14th, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 1201 Williams Street, 19th Floor
We hope your neighborhood can send a representative to the committee as we discuss a range of transportation, transit, and streets topics, build connections with the agencies and organizations involved, and ensure that neighborhood input is included in plans at all levels! Attendees do not need to be INC delegates -- all are welcome. Even if your neighborhood organization is not a member of INC, you are welcome to participate. Please pass this on to anyone who might be interested in joining the committee -- write to email@example.com to be added to our growing e-mail list!
Thursday January 14th, 6-8 p.m.
We have two topics for our January meeting, including an extended session with Denver's Director of Transportation to start off the new year!
2016 Meeting Schedule
- Real-Time Transit Info Comes to RTD -- Steve Szczecina, RTD Acting Digital Communications Manager
Starting off 2016 with a major accomplishment, RTD now has real-time vehicle location and arrival prediction data for local bus service available through the Transit App mobile application, and by the time we meet on Google Maps as well! After years of work upgrading the entire system’s GPS infrastructure, and establishing the systems to handle the continuous feed and distribution of real time data, RTD’s real time data is now available to riders. Steve Szczecina, Acting Digital Communications Manager at RTD, has been a central part of this effort, and will tell us about the interesting problems and solutions in bringing this new data to major transit directions platforms such as Google Maps. He’ll also share plans for future enhancements that will bring real time data to the RTD website and allow smaller application authors to query the real-time data through a simple application interface (API).
- Looking Forward: 2016 Denver Transportation Plans and Projects – Crissy Fanganello, Denver Director of Transportation
There’s a lot coming in 2016! We’ll spend an extended session with Crissy Fanganello, Director of Transportation in Denver Public Works. Find out what new and expanded work is in the budget for the year, and what to look forward to and get involved in as Denver embarks on three citywide transportation planning efforts – the Pedestrians and Trails plan, the new Transit Plan, and the update to Blueprint Denver, our integrated land use and transportation plan. We'll also hear about several significant area-specific plans and projects that will be active in the new year.
