FALL 2015 - ALL SPSU CHAPTERS WILL FALL UNDER KSU NAME
As you all may be aware Kennesaw State University (KSU) will be consolidating with Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU) to form one institution named - Kennesaw State University.
To give you some brief information - KSU and SPSU will still be functioning as two independent universities and will officially be consolidated in Fall 2015. The university has created work-groups that will discuss, plan and prepare for the consolidation of different entities within the institutions with one being Fraternity and Sorority Life; the work-group consists of 12 members both representing KSU and SPSU. The team has a variety of individuals with different experiences, undergraduate students, alumni and advisors. The work-group will propose the "big picture" of what two communities will look like once combined into one. This proposal is due by May 1st of this year so the committee is working on a pretty quick time-line.
During the fall 2015 semester, Kennesaw State's IFC will grow from 5 chapters to 12 chapters, quite a large growth that our chapter must be prepared for. Chapters will consist of:
Delta Sigma Phi (KSU Colony in 2015)
Delta Tau Delta (KSU)
Delta Chi (KSU)
Kappa Alpha Order (KSU Colony)
Kappa Sigma (KSU & SPSU)
Pi Kappa Alpha (KSU)
Pi Kappa Phi (KSU & SPSU)
Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SPSU)
Sigma Nu (SPSU)
Sigma Pi (SPSU)
Tau Kappa Epsilon (SPSU)
Theta Chi (KSU suspended until 2015 & SPSU)
In spring 2015, Sigma Alpha Epsilon will appear on marketing for KSU Greek Life and the chapter will start holding chapter on KSU's campus. However, the chapter will only be able to recruit men from SPSU until fall 2015 when the merger is complete. Georgia Omega will remain the chapter name and the SPSU university seal will remain in the LMT. More details will be released as the May 1st deadline passes.

GEORGIA OMEGA'S 5TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Over this past weekend, Georgia Omega celebrated 5 years since our chartering. Friday Night, we were honored to initiated our 103rd member, David R Jett, as an honor initiate. On Saturday Night, the Alumni Association held the banquet celebration with updates from SPSU, SAE, GA Omega AA and the GA Omega Chapter.
We would like to thank everyone who was in attendance and who joined us from out of town. Please congratulate Dave on his initiation and we look forward to seeing you at our next event.
On March 9th, the Georgia Omega Alumni were challenged to raise fund for the Georgia Omega CEF. The Chapter Education Fun is housed in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Foundation adn is a fund that can be used to award scholarships to cover registration for educational events such as the John O. Moseley Leadership School, the DeVotie Ritual Institute and the Eminent Archon Institute.
During this event, brothers donated $18.56 to $250.00 to the CEF and we were able to raise over $1,000. Thank you to all that donated as we look to reach the $5,000 mark to start using the account.
David Jett will remain the admin for the CEF and will regularly give updates on its status and use.
CALL FOR ANNUAL DUES
During the last Alumni Association Conference Call, it was agreed upon to raise alumni dues to $200 a (Calendar) year [Jan-Dec]. The reasoning for raising the dues was to continue to support the chapter but also to fund the alumni association and more alumni events. Alumni would have the option to pay the full $200 to the GA Omega AA or $100 to the GA Omega AA and the other $100 to the GA Omega CEF through the SAE Foundation (tax deductible). Funds sent to the alumni association will be used in the follow breakdown:
Send checks to Alumni Association Treasurer, Brian Ellison, payable to Sigma Alpha Epsilon at:
Georgia Omega AA
2032 Ridgestone Landing SW
Marietta, GA 30008
Only Dues paying members will receive invites to upcoming alumni events and non-dues paying members will pay a la carte' for each event. All alumni will continue to receive newsletters, invitations and updates from the Alumni Association and Chapter.
