Hello <<First Name>>

BCA Community News 16 October 2021

BCA Gift Shop!

We now have a small online gift shop where you can buy Wildlife gift cards and Bundanoon on Tap Water Bottles.

The gift cards are six images from the Wildlife Calendar with cultural notes on the inside left, the inside right is blank for greetings. This is a limited print run but can be reprinted if needed. The cost is $3 per card or the set of six for $15. Quality envelopes included. After ordering they can be picked up, or posted out (with postage calculated at checkout).

We also have the Bundanoon on Tap water bottle with a special bonus of the original "Bundy on Tap"  Camelbak bottles. These were returned from the "Ecologic" display at the Powerhouse which retired after almost ten years. For $25 you get both bottles. Order online for local pickup only.

Of course, all the proceeds go to assisting the BCA in its community activities. Thanks to Sonja Bowden for the beautiful artwork and Lyndell Giuliano for the notes for the cards.

Restart a Heart Day
Saturday 16 October

Today is Restart a Heart Day, a campaign by the Council of Ambulance Authorities in Australia to improve awareness and most importantly action in the case of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).

It aims to overcome bystander hesitation and provides a simple, non-trained three-step response. Call, Push, Shock.

The BCA has installed two Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) for community/public use. One is in the external vestibule of the Soldiers' Memorial Hall and the other, with thanks to the Hotel, is in the external vestibule of the Bundanoon Hotel. The AEDs are automatic. Once you open them, they tell you what to do. Where to put the pads, when to "stand clear".

A State/Council bushfire recovery grant funded the second AED and also funded a CPR mannikin and training AED of the same model. Once Covid restrictions allow, we will be arranging familiarity sessions so anyone interested can either watch CPR compressions and application of the AED on the mannikin and hopefully also be willing to try themselves.

Of course, in a perfect world, everyone would have a current formal first aid resuscitation qualification. But as a start, Restart A Heart aims to encourage all of us to act and we want to support that.

BCA General Meeting
21 October 7:30pm - a Zoom catch up

Our September informal Zoom meeting was a chance to report on Committee activities. Given the uncertainty of date of the 80% change to restrictions, the Committee have decided to repeat this for the October Meeting.

Hopefully by November we will all have largely sorted out getting the Vaccination proof on our smartphones. Up until 1 December proof of vaccination is a NSW Government requirement for access to Community Facilities. At least our meeting can again be in the Hall with a limit of 50. Perhaps even drinks and nibbles!

Again the October Zoom meeting will be a short meeting with 30 minutes for an update and 15 minutes for any questions of the Committee. If you have any questions it would help if they can be emailed in advance.

To join the meeting click this link at 7:30pm on Thursday 21 October  Zoom meeting link
