October 2018
Dear member,
People have been asking for a way to stay connected with others at Maleny. We at the Neighbourhood Centre were happy to explore the idea and as a result are offering such an opportunity.
Feel free to join us in 'A place to be' for an opportunity to express the way you see the world in safety. This group will be facilitated by a warm qualified professional who believes groups are a special way to connect with others in the comfortable friendly environment of the Neighbourhood Centre. We expect to be meeting together weekly for six Wednesdays initially.
To register your interest, please pop in or phone us on 5499 9345. We look forward to seeing you and getting to know you. You can view the poster here.

Saturday 6 October 2018
10am till 2pm

We would like to invite the community to come and explore the services we offer and have a great time. Free activities for families including face painting, henna and stalls. There is an opportunity to sign up as a volunteer and contribute to MNC's fundraising efforts.
MNC is unique as it is only partly funded by government, so we still need to raise the rest of the funds to function through fundraising.
Come and support your local community space and have some fun!

Next year MNC will celebrate its 25th anniversary. As part of our celebrations we are wanting to document the history of this wonderful organisation and we need your help!!
We would love to hear from people who have been involved with MNC over the years – whether on the committees, as a member of staff, a volunteer or a supporter of the Centre. We particularly would love to receive stories about those earliest of days which led to the creation of the Neighbourhood Centre – the journey taken, the hurdles overcome and the joy of success!!
If you would like to contribute to this history collection please send your stories – and photos if you have any to share – to

"When I was first placed at MNC for my Counselling University Placement, I didn’t know what to expect. Prior to this, I had no experience of community centres and had rarely ventured up to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
"After spending the past 10 weeks volunteering at the Centre, my eyes have been opened to what a magical place MNC is. The Centre goes above and beyond to assist the community in their times of need. Not only do they offer Emergency Relief (ER), free counselling and free washing machine/shower facilities, but they also have JPs, Centrelink assistance and a community lunch every Thursday.
"I have been welcomed into the Centre with open arms and have been lucky enough to spend my placement surrounded by happy, positive, delightful people."
