World Conversations - Multicultural Radio Program via 104.9 Sunshine FM

"Sunshine FM 104.9 now broadcasts a multicultural program called 'World Conversations'.

The show is aired each Sunday evening from 7pm-9pm. This program is keen to connect with multicultural communities here on the Sunshine Coast to invite the communities to share who the community is, and where the community comes from.

Also, if there are community events to share, language and culture, stories and songs, we would love to know.

The idea behind the program is to highlight other world's cultures and languages; so the music played are from the Putumayo World Music and World Music Network, as well as other compilations that we access. But more importantly; to be a voice for the community who are living and working on the Sunny Coast." (Maatakiri, presenter of the show)
To promote any community notices, please send an email (should be accurate and factual, can be written or recorded and less than 1 minute in length)
People seeking low-cost accommodation are invited to meet and greet with hosts at 2.30pm on Tuesdays at The Marketplace Cafe - see notice above.

Telehealth Parent Counselling Trial

The Telehealth Parent Counselling Trial is looking at telehealth video appointments (video conferencing) as a way of delivering parent counselling to families in rural, remote areas or those unable to access a Child Health Centre.

All counselling is provided by fully qualified professional social workers or psychologists known as Early Intervention Parenting Clinicians/Early Intervention Clinicians (EIPC/EICs). EIPC/EICs assist families with children aged 0 – 8 years where they are facing challenges in their parenting/caregiving, they are experiencing difficulties with their child’s emotions or behaviours or are facing other difficulties that are affecting their parenting abilities. Family Constellation - Sat 20 August

Because we are born in our own family history, we inherit patterns of behaviour, symptoms, and sometimes illnesses. Yet it did not begin with you. Doing a family constellation can help ease the flow of your life by unveiling the blocks in your family system.

Explore your Family System in a supportive, confidential and respectful manner on Saturday 20th August 2016.

Info and RSVP - Anne  0490 314 011

Testimonial - 40 yo, Maleny - Attending Anne's Family Constellation session awakened me to unseen patterns I have inherited within my family unit. For the first time in my life, I was able to see relationships more clearly than I ever could have imagined.  I came out of the session with appreciation and love for my family that I never previously had.

"We live in a biodiversity hotspot", says Spencer. "There are some 3500 plants local to the region and we're encouraging home gardeners to plant them as an alternative to the usual garden plants that become weeds in our local forests."

At this time of starting up business here in Maleny, Spencer has moved his office to be on-site in Coral Street. Take the opportunity to go along and chat. You'll get the benefit of his long history working with regeneration and the biodiversity of our local region.

Maleny Pearl
Connection Group

The PEARL group is continuing.  We surveyed group attendees and a common request was for the group to become social and to be based at varying locations in the community.

The group has been completely rebranded and is known as Maleny Pearl Connection Group.

The Group is now more focused on socialising, getting out of the house and into the community and generally connecting with others.  This is aligned with the requests of group members.

Caloundra & Hinterland Family Support Programme

Sometimes families struggle with problems like financial pressures, difficulties coping with children, feeling isolated, lonely & stressed. Often parents just need someone to talk to.

Family Support is an early intervention programme that aims to improved children's development and wellbeing by supporting the capacity of those in a parenting role. Specifically working with children up to the age of 12 years, Family Support seeks to:
  • strengthen family relationships
  • support families
  • improve children's wellbeing
  • increase participation in community life to strengthen family and community functioning
If you think that you or your family, may benefit from this type of support, give Wendy a call on Mob: 0423 716 705 or Holly on 0488 000 343.

Wendy is at the MNC on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Time: 7.30 am - 12.00 midday.

Emergency Relief Story

I have lived in Maleny, with my two sons Grant and Christian for near on 15 years.

Our 1st Xmas here back then would not have been a very joyous one but for the brilliant generosity of the Neighbourhood Center. Giving the kids toys and great food to make Xmas just terrific.

I have again three times since then needed their help and again they were so helpful. Not only with food, but towels,  blankets and toiletries. Things that we really needed at the time.
The staff, the people who donate their time and the things folk need, when times are hard are just heaven sent!

And we love them for it!
