Hello <<First Name>>,
The AGM on the 28 September provides a great opportunity to become more familiar with the extensive range of services provided by MNC and the various projects that are always underway. All welcome, and if you are not a member already, please come and join us.
We were saddened to hear of the recent death of Bill Richardson. Bill was well known in the Maleny community, particularly remembered for his involvement in the White Ribbon campaign and in MNC's events against Domestic Violence. A community ceremony will be held at the Neighbourhood Centre at 4pm, Wednesday 30 August.
Vale Bill.

Homelessness Week 2017
Thank you to all the wonderful generous people who supported CHASM's fundraising efforts during Homelessness Week in August, and a particular thank you to the Maleny Rotary Club for their donation of $250. The $1,094.50 raised was donated to the MNC to purchase emergency accommodation for homeless people.
Chasm is keen to hear from any businesses, schools, organisations and community groups who'd like to participate in a community consultation to share fundraising ideas on Wednesday 13 September, 12.15 – 3pm. Please email Julia Peddie or call 0405 331 584.

One of the Centre's main functions is to support community members who find themselves in a crisis situation. Each month we would like to share one of their stories:
"It's great to get aid in Maleny"
"I am a single woman with one child and I have recently lost my job. I continue to look for work and until I find a job, although I am not homeless, I am really only 'scraping by' and so I came into the Neighbourhood Centre to get some help. I was initially really embarrassed to be asking for food but the people were very helpful and made me feel comfortable about it. It is really great to be able to get aid in Maleny where I am living."

Our sincere thanks to all those community groups and individuals who donated to our Emergency Relief Fund during August: These included:
The Lions Club of Maleny: $850 to buy 10 swags for our swag appeal for people sleeping rough.
Maleny Credit Union: $750 through their Support a Local Club program. Thanks to the Credit Union for all their support over the years.
Pomodoras on Obi restaurant: $538.30 comprised of staff tips earned during their Christmas in July event
Quota International of Maleny: $500 to purchase hygiene products and nappies
The Girl Guides: a basket of toiletry products valued at $125 for homeless people donated during Homelessness Week
Elizabeth Gibson: frozen meals, and IGA Maleny: 100+ sausages.
These donations all help us to achieve our fundraising aim of $12,000 which will go towards Emergency Relief... THANKS AGAIN!
