New Grants set up to help young Cambridge residents pursure sports and activities
A NEW grant scheme is being launched to help Cambridge families pay for their children’s sports clubs and activity sessions.
The Grassroots Activity Fund, which is being funded by the Community Fund at The Leys School and administered by Cambridge City Council, will provide financial assistance to low-income families so that their child or children can participate in a sport or physical activity in Cambridge.
The grants of up to £250 per family will help towards paying for things like annual subscriptions to sports clubs, session fees or equipment and clothing that will enable children to participate.
The Grassroots Activity Fund will be looking to assist children aged 4-16 wishing to try a new sport or activity, and also those looking to keep attending sessions they already go to, but which are becoming too costly.
The grant fund is open from 1 April to families who live in Cambridge and receive income support, and people can apply at any point throughout the year. Further details of who could qualify and how to apply, including the application form, can be found on the council’s website.
