Childrens' Jubilee Art Competition

Her Majesty the Queen is celebrating her Platinum Jubliee!  Children in nursery and primary schools in Cherry Hinton are invited to take part in an art competition to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. 

Can you create a picture of her Majesty on a visit to Cherry Hinton?
What will she see?   Where will she go?   Who will she meet?

Pictures can be in any medium but should not be larger than A4. Entries should be submitted between 25th May and 28th May, 2022 to the Cherry Hinton Village Centre. More details here  

Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service
Home Fire Safety
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service is committed to supporting the safety and wellbeing of residents in all of the communities that they serve.  They have an online home safety check that you can fill in to make sure you're keeping your home fire safe.  They also provide free visits to vulnerable residents around the county where they will give advice abour keeping safe and well in your home.  More details here

The judges are looking forward to tasting the cake entries for Cherryhinton's  'Fit for a Queen' Cake Competition taking place at the Village Centre on 3rd June.  Categories below:

  • Best Children's Victoria Sponge
  • Best Children's Cup Cake
  • Best Children's Novelty Cake
  • Best Victoria Sponge (Adult)
  • Best Tray Bake (Adult)
  • Best Sweet Scone (Adult)
  • Best Novelty Cake (Adult)

Cherry Hinton Jumble Trail
There is a good number of residents who have signed up to the Jumble Trail.  Daniel H is still taking bookings for this month's Jumble Trail on 29th May.  You can contact him via Facebook @Cherry Hinton Jumble Trail.
If you are looking for a bit of extra motivation to clear your bookshelves then it may help to know that the team putting together the Jubilee Celebrations at the Village Centre are collecting good quality second had books (children and adults) and can arrange to collect them for a book stall on 4th June.  Email or call 07926592006
Cherry Hinton Library is running a special royal storytime to celebrate the Jubilee on Tuesday 31st May at 10:30. There will be regal themed stories and a craft. You can book at or just turn up on the day. It is suitable for children under 10.

Additional patrols are in place across Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire following a spate of catalytic converter thefts.

In the last few days, catalytic converters have been stolen from vehicles parked at the Trumpington Park and Ride site, Broad Street and Carl Zeiss in Cambourne, Suez Road in Cambridge and Station Road in Whittlesford.

If you see anything suspicious, call us on 101 or 999 in an emergency.

Action Fraud have reported a large increase in fake emails purporting to be from Ofgem. The emails state that the recipient is eligible for a rebate as a result of a newly announced government scheme.  The links in the emails lead to genuine-looking websites that are destined to steal your personal and financial information.
  • Remember, your bank, or any other official organisation, won’t ask you to share personal information over email or text. If you need to check that it’s a genuine message, contact the company using details from their official website or app.
  • Spotted a suspicious email? Forward it to the Suspicious Email Reporting Service (SERS) -
Wandlebury Wildlife Day Saturday 28th May 11:30am-4pm
Fun and informative nature activities for all ages,  Free, drop-in event.  Part of the Cambridge Nature Festival.  Activities include pond dipping, sweep netting, nature trail and much more.
