If you know of any local Christmas events which may be of interest to Cherry Hinton residents please let us know so we can share the news.

The Cherry Hinton Winter Light Switch on takes place on Saturday 26th November   There will be carol singing from 4.45pm outside the Library led by Nic Boyns and the Cherry Hinton Community Choir and (hopefully) Father Christmas will make an appearance.  The Mayor, our own Cherry Hinton Councillor, Mark Ashton will switch on the lights at 5pm.  Hot chocolate and mince pies will be served.  The lights are funded by Cambridge City Council Community Grants and organised by the Residents Association.

As part of the evening's activities there will be an opportunity to help fill stockings for residents at Jimmy's Night Shelter.  St Andrew's are currently collecting items for the stockings including disposable razors, shaving cream, socks, Christmas confectionery, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower gel, deodorant, shampoo, sleeping bags (yes, a bit big for the stockings but something that is always needed at Jimmy's.  If you have anything to donate please email or call 01223 242954 to arrange drop-off.
Although the event takes place in Grantchester we are pleased to share details on behalf of Trumpington Community Football Club.  Some of the funds raised by this grassroots community football club help to provide bursaries for children who can't afford to pay their membership fees.

The Red Lion in Cherry Hinton is due to undergo a major refurbishment after getting planning permission from Cambridge City Council. The pub occupies a building which dates back to the 16th century.

The plans will see a full redecoration of the inside of the pub as well as a transformation of the garden area. Among the works include the construction of a coffee station and wine display area, new screens, new patio doors, fixed seating and a refurbished pool area.

Robot deliveries are now available from  the  Co-op store on Cherry Hinton Road. If you want to meet a robot, just download the 'Starship Food Delivery' app onto your phone, place an order, staff will pack a robot with your groceries and the robot delivers to your home in minutes! The robots can also talk, and you can add a free song to your delivery, which the robot can sing to you when it arrives!
If you want to follow the robots on Facebook and see what everyone is saying about them, join the Cambridge - Starship group here:
