Michelle Bullivant, our local historian, has published some new articles on her website which will be of interest to all in Cherry HInton and anyone interested in social history.  You can read memories from the 1940s here
Michelle is keen to hear from anyone who would like to add to the collection.
Cambridgeshire County Council are reporting that some residents have received calls from scammers offering money and claiming to be from the Household Support Fund.  Be aware that the Council will never ask for your long bank card number or three-digit security code. If you get asked for these details, put the phone down.

Geophysical surveying is taking place at Cherry Hinton Hall supported by a small Cambs group of retired people who run a voluntary team. You may see them at Cherry Hinton Hall, on Sundays - weather dependant - over the next few months carrying out the surveys.  The surveys are non-obtrusive and involve laying out a grid and then walking over the grid with the machines which are rather like walking frames which make a scan of the ground beneath.  They will be on site between 10.30am - about 3.30pm (approx).  It's worth noting that they are always looking for more members to join their group, so perhaps anyone who is really keen could pop over to chat with them or visit their website.  Michelle Bullivant will attend some of the sessions and will be pleased to talk to about what's going on and will be working with the group to analyse the findings.

As part of Cambridge Music Festival we have a free light CARNIVAL!

As darkness falls, the lions begin to prowl!  The Neo-classical facade of the university’s Senate House will be illuminated with stunning images of creatures large and small as part of our sound and light spectacular, produced by the award-winning creative agency, Novak. The Kanneh-Mason family’s award-winning recording of Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals provides the soundtrack for an impressive projection created using artwork produced by pupils from Castle, Arbury, St Matthews and Galfrid primary schools during workshops led by community artist Hilary Cox-Condron.

Gather to watch the lions, the fish and the swan as they are brought to life through digital animation.

EVENT DETAILS:  Thursday 10 November 2022  -  Outside The Senate House, King's Parade  4.30-9.00pm
(repeated every 20 mins)
