Good afternoon, Church Family
Yesterday we received an email from Treena Duncan, Executive Minister, and Rev Jay P. Olson, President of the Pacific Mountain Regional Council of The United Church of Canada.
They have recommended that Communities of Faith and Ministries do not meet for services.
As well, Dr. Bonnie Henry, our provincial health officer has announced that gatherings of over 50 people are prohibited.
Council at Winfield United Church and Rev Joan Kessler have decided to follow these guidelines.
As of today all activities at Winfield United Church will be cancelled until further notice. This includes Sunday worship, Circle of Peace, Holy Conversations, Eat Play Love events and the thrift shop.
Verena, our church office administrator, will be working from her home and Joan, our minister, will be working between her home and the church office. We are hoping to be able to offer some online services and will keep you updated as this evolves.
The pastoral care team is working to identify anyone in our community who does not have family members close at hand and may need assistance with groceries, prescriptions etc. If you would like to be on our pastoral care help list on a temporary basis and would be willing to help with phone calls or drop offs please let Fran Schultz, Joan Kessler or myself know as soon as possible.
WUC is, and always will be, a caring, supportive, and loving community. Now is our time to shine. Something as simple as a phone call can make a major difference in someone's life this week. We are in this together and we need each other. We will keep you updated as the days progress. Emergency pastoral care will be ongoing.
Until we meet again, keep well and as Ellen says, BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER.
Sandy Bogardis, Chair of Council
