Hi everyone,
Well, we did it!  We had a small gathering in the sanctuary this past Sunday, and aside from some technical issues that we will continue to sort as we go down this path, the service was well-received. This week, we opened registration to those who feel well and are in a position to come. You can do so by calling or emailing the Church or registering on our website.
This Sunday we will observe Orange Shirt Day as part of our service. This growing movement honors and remembers those who attended Residential Schools between the 1870s and 1996. You are welcome to wear an orange shirt this Sunday in show of support that Every Child Matters.

See you Sunday!

To Bless a New Space

May our space we share in our togetherness be blessed.
May we feel one another’s presence in this shared setting of church, of home, of places of vacation and those of solitude.
In real time, in livestreaming and in the recorded and the delayed.
May the experience be genuine and heartfelt.
And the physical presence of this created space extend to friend and stranger alike
that the door of our hearts be open to all who seek community.
May the fullness of peace and joy embrace all who share this space.
That joyful conversation and hearty laughter and a spirit of collaboration, the unmuting of our microphones and from behind our masked faces rest on all who are part of this space.
Through the uncertainty, may our steps be blessed and sure with the safety and wellbeing of this community our paramount achievement.
We bless this space with all names that are holy.

Blessing of the Animals

As part of our Season of Creation, and because many of us are accessing Zoom, we will have a blessing of the animals on Sunday, October 4th. You are invited to send a picture of your pet to Verena at the office. Please include your pet's name and we will put together a slideshow if we have enough photos.
Deadline for photo submissions is Thursday morning, October 1.

Thank you for your steadfast and continued support of Winfield United Church.  During this time of closure and summer activity,  we are holding steady and thank you for keeping our boat afloat.  Donations can be mailed or e-transfered to the Church office:

Book Study

Our upcoming Book Study, Me and White Supremacy by Layla F. Saad begins Thursday, October 8 at 7 pm on Zoom. To register for the Zoom link, please drop the church office a note or register on the website. I failed to mention in the announcement last week that you are responsible for getting your own copy. Mosaic Books, Kelowna Indigo, Amazon, the Public Library, Libby (online library app) are possible options. We did not do a group order because of the range of choices between hard copy and online preferences. This book is organized into a four-week study examining white privilege and our attitudes and actions towards people of color. I encourage you to come prepared to share your thoughts and reflections around the week's readings as this will create a rich experience of learning for all who participate.
