Tell Andy Harris to Restrict Offshore Drilling and Seismic Airgun Blasting
Hard to believe that Rep. Andy Harris has not sought to protect his constituents from the risks posed by drilling and seismic testing in the ocean off the Maryland coast. This spring the HdG Green Team led a successful grass-roots effort in Havre de Grace that resulted in the City Council of Havre de Grace passing a resolution opposing drilling and testing. We now encourage you to let Rep. Harris know he has a chance to do the right thing in a vote on an upcoming appropriations bill. Feel free to use the sample script below, which has been provided by Oceana, a non-profit organization fighting offshore drilling.
SAMPLE SCRIPT TO ASK REP. HARRIS TO VOTE YES ON AMENDMENTS TO RESTRICT OFFSHORE DRILLING AND SEISMIC AIRGUN BLASTING IN THE 2019 INTERIOR APPROPRIATIONS BILL (H.R. 3052) Call Rep. Andy Harris’ Washington, DC Office; 202-225-5311 This vote will take place as early as Monday, June 17th. Please call ASAP. Hi, My name is ___________________ and my zip code is __________________. I am calling to ask that the representative vote YES on all amendments to the Interior Appropriations Bill, H.R. 3052, that will restrict offshore drilling and seismic airgun blasting. I’m calling because offshore drilling is completely incompatible with our state’s clean coast economy. The threat of a catastrophic offshore disaster like the Deepwater Horizon, risks 96,000 jobs and $6 Billion in GDP for Maryland. Offshore drilling is not worth the risk. I am counting on the representative to vote YES on all amendments to the Interior Appropriations Bill, H.R. 3052, that will restrict offshore drilling and seismic airgun blasting. Thank you!
