Check out the recap video from the event at Mission Bay! Click to watch.

The second ever Adaptive Sports, Recreation, and Resource Fair was held Sunday, October 16th at North Crown Point Shores in San Diego. The MCAP (Mobility Community Access Partners of San Diego) co-sponsored this event with the City of San Diego's Therapeutic Recreation Services.

Activities included basketball, pickleball, boccia ball, handcycling, fitness, martial arts, wheelchair paddle boarding and over-the-line. This is in addition to the resource booths, ukulele jam session and the incredible Hawaiian dance entertainment during lunch! Meals were provided by the great folks at the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club.

We're hosting another event next year; mark your calendars for June 3rd!

Access Trax Featured in SCORE Success Story

Watch the success story video featuring Access Trax!
Entrepreneurship is hard. But you don't have to go through it alone! From the early months of starting Access Trax, Kelly sought mentorship to help guide her on everything from business operations to legal. One of the first organizations she got help from was the nonprofit SCORE. The org connects small business owners with FREE 1:1 mentorship, education and online resources.

Kelly was recently interviewed for SCORE's success story series. Twenty diverse businesses from all over the US were selected to participate. Special thank you to Sherryl and Gary (and of course Barbie the lab) for their help with showing how Access Trax works!

Kelly Receives Force for Good Award from OT School

Kelly, a blonde woman wearing a tan suit and teal blouse smiles holding a glass award on stage next to a taller blonde woman wearing red graduation robes and hat. There are other professors in robes behind them on stage. They are at a grad school graduation ceremony indoors.
Back in August, Kelly was honored to speak at the University of St. Augustine for Health Science's fall graduation ceremony here in San Diego. Kelly is an alumna who graduated with her degree in occupational therapy in 2017.

During the ceremony, Kelly was presented with the Force for Good Award which is given to a local organization/individual who exemplifies the university's B-Corp values and mission of being a "force for good." Award recipients demonstrate a commitment to serving the community and embracing innovations that improve patient's lives. The idea for Access Trax started back while Kelly and her co-founder Eric were OT students in 2016. Kelly enjoyed seeing some of her professors and encouraging the new grads to think big when it comes to making an impact in their career!

Special thank you to Dr. Maureen "Mo" Johnson who made such a big impact in school, and to Dr. Erin Schwier who presented Kelly with the award! The University of St. Augustine continues to support the adaptive surf movement and we are grateful for their impact.

Access Trax + Popup Picnic Team Up

See Instagram Post
Kelly of Access Trax and Lauren of local Popup Picnic Co first met this year through the San Diego Tourism Authority's inaugural DEI Accelerator program. Popup Picnic Co is the original luxury picnic company and takes pride in creating beautifully curated picnics for small and large groups so you don't have to lift a finger.

In order to execute the beautiful picnic setups on the beach in Southern California, Popup Picnic Co uses carts to haul the tables and chairs. This can be quite difficult in the soft sand. The Access Trax mats are excellent for creating a stable pathway for moving people AND heavy equipment, so Lauren used the Trax for an event in Huntington Beach recently!
