Join Us in Celebrating Global Accessibility Awareness Day May 20th

Image shows a woman with short brunette hair seated in her manual wheelchair looking out to the lake below her campsite. Her wheelchair is on a grey Access Trax pathway over dirt. There is a table to her left with fishing gear and an orange and white tent to her right.
Accessibility is at the heart of what we do at Access Trax. That's why we're doubling down this year for Global Accessibility Awareness Day! EveryBODY deserves to access all aspects of life, including the outdoors and recreation. When everyone has inclusive access, we all benefit physically, socially and emotionally.

Join us in our social media campaign to spread awareness of the positive benefits of accessibility. Our goal is to share stories, encourage more people to become allies of accessibility, and celebrate getting out into nature. Share a photo or video depicting what access to the outdoors means to you and use the hashtag "#accesstheoutdoors"
Image has a woman wearing a helment and purple shirt handcycling on a dirt trail in the wilderness. Text overlay shares May 20th is Global Accessibility Awareness Day.
PS Did you know Access Trax is sponsoring ADAPTED the Film- a documentary about the unbreakable bond 3 athletes have for nature after surviving traumatic injuries? The film follows their journeys as they raft the Salmon River, summit Mount Baker, and handcycle around 100 miles of the White Rim Trail. Watch the trailer below!
Be prepared to fall in love with nature and the human spirit in this NEW trailer.

Family Uses Access Trax to Visit Hawaii Beaches

Image shows beach sunset in Hawaii. The beach is in shadow and the sky is a dark blue with some yellow and orange.
Recently we had the pleasure of working with a family from California who took their Access Trax mats all the way to Hawaii. The family shared how their airline was great about the check in process including transporting their mats as checked luggage. They had a great time and didn't have to worry about whether a certain beach would have accessibility or not; they had access at their fingertips with Access Trax! Here's what they had to say:

"The Trax worked great. We even got help from other beach visitors (total strangers) in laying them out and moving them, and a number of inquiries about where to get them...They [Hawaiian Airlines] checked them as baggage at no charge as an assistive device."

Kelly Gets 2nd Place Pitching Access Trax at Accelerator Demo Day

As part of graduating the Get Sh!t Done Business Accelerator, Kelly pitched Access Trax alongside 10 other female founders before a live audience and panel of judges on April 15th. Among the cohort were businesses from doggy day-care to virtual event software and a company on a mission to empower black freelancers around the world. The following day, Founders were given the pitch scores and Kelly secured 2nd place in the Judges Choice Award! Access Trax is motivated to take what we learned in the program to continue successfully scaling the company.

Watch Penguin Bloom on Netflix

Movie poster for Penguin Bloom, featuring Naomi Watts starring as Sam Bloom.
Penguin Bloom is the true story of the Bloom family from New South Wales. While the family of 5 was on a vacation in Thailand in 2013, Sam Bloom (played by Naomi Watts) tragically fell from a rooftop when a safety railing failed. Sam suffered a T6 spinal cord injury from the fall, suddenly unable to do many of the things she used to do- at least not in the way she imagined. When 1 of her 3 sons brings home an injured Magpie just a few months after she returned from the hospital, the bird becomes an unlikely source of inspiration for resilience to Sam.

Sam Bloom happens to be an adaptive surfing competitor, holding 2 world titles to date. She has surfed at La Jolla Shores at the World Para Surfing Championships and has even used Access Trax at the event. We hope you watch the film based on her story and enjoy the themes of hope, love, and unity!
