Makapo Aquatics Project Debuts Beach Trax

On November 9th, the Makapo Aquatics Project debuted their very own set of Beach Trax at the Newport Aquatic Center. This nonprofit provides outrigger paddling programs for differently abled people and their families and friends. The team wanted a way to improve accessibility across the sand to the water and promote greater inclusion. Within days of launching their fundraising campaign, they had reached their goal. We hope you enjoy this powerful video explaining the project and its benefits. We love their quote calling Beach Trax "The Pathway to Play!"

Kelly Presents at the Each by Name Women's Conference

On November 9th, Kelly attended the Each by Name Women's Conference presented by Rolling with Me. At Access Trax, we are dedicated to providing innovative, safe, durable products made in the USA. In order to continue with this focus, we will be updating the price per panel Jan 1st 2020 by approximately 5% to $68 ($680/unit). This will help account for the increase in cost of raw materials that occurred in 2019, plus allow us to continue product development including researching sustainable materials as part of our long-term vision.
In order to take advantage of 2019 pricing, please request a quote and submit your order by December 10th. Kelly will be happy to answer any questions you may have and provide a custom quote including shipping. Access Trax will be closed from December 19-26 for the holidays to spend time with family. We want to deliver your order as soon as possible so you can use the Trax for your next outdoor event or adventure!

Beach Trax Quick Tips

For Sand:

  •  Grade the sand easily by taking a few stacked panels and drag across the surface walking backwards down the intended pathway
  • For high traffic or multi-day events, have a broom handy to sweep periodically (and before loading into the car!)
  • To secure a panel to the boardwalk temporarily, we recommend Gorilla Tape (available at Home Depot) since it sticks to concrete and the panels without leaving residue

For Grass, Dirt or Gravel:

  • To keep panels in place, you can use a gardening stake in the outer corners of the panels

For All Terrain:

  • It is best to have a double-wide path so people can easily pass each other
  • If you don't have enough panels to go double-wide down the whole path, connect 2 panels to the side every so often so people can pass each other

These events are free and provide people with disabilities the opportunity to experience the joy of surfing. Equipment needed includes the Beach Trax portable pathway and floating beach wheelchairs to assist with transfers in and out of the ocean.
