A low-power, wide-area wireless network is a low-cost, easily implemented
online arrangement that provides precision crop irrigation

Insecticide-coated seeds dangerous?
Studies suggest that
seeds coated with neonicotinoid insecticides may harm nontarget insects, mammals, and birds
. In response, states are starting to restrict use of these products.
Soil tillage reduces ‘longevity vitamin’
Crops grown in tilled soil may contain much less of an amino acid
known for its potent antioxidant properties, which is produced by certain fungi and bacteria in the soil.
Researchers found that Pennsylvania
farmers markets generated at least $100 million of direct economic activity
over the six-month market season.
How farms can adapt to climate change
Dairy farmers in the Northeast can reduce the environmental impact of their operations and maximize revenues
by double cropping and injecting manure into the soil, rather than broadcasting it.
With the support of an IEE seed grant, Felipe Montes and his team are
developing a nitrous oxide monitoring system for soil emissions
in an effort to mitigate its impacts on climate change and improve soil health.
