IEE has announced a call for proposals for its 2023 Seed Grant Program. The program is intended to foster basic and applied research on strategic interdisciplinary topics that leverage faculty expertise across the University. Proposals are due by November 28, 2022, by 5pm, EST.

Impactful Seed Grant Project Highlights

A project funded by a 2021 seed grant focusing on community air quality concerns was instrumental in Penn State being awarded funding from the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy.
A 2020 seed grant project assessing pollinator health in light of climate change has resulted in nearly $1 million in total funding from the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
A project funded by a 2019 seed grant that investigated seismic monitoring of urban areas using fiber optic cables resulted in multiple publications, media mentions, and nearly $800,000 from the National Science Foundation.
A 2019 seed grant project investigating the impacts of Passive House standards on energy use and air quality resulted in $500,000 from the National Science Foundation as well as multiple presentations.
