Membership Database
Swim Ireland has recently updated our database to increase the functionality for clubs and members and we have now opened this to all of our members. Members will receive an email from the Swim Ireland GoMembership system welcoming them and explaining the process to access your profile. This system will allow members to update your profiles, update contact details, book courses, purchase memberships and communicate directly with Swim Ireland. If you do not receive this email communication from Swim Ireland please contact your club secretary to ensure that your email details are correct.

We would ask all individuals that if you currently have a Swim Ireland membership number as you were previously a member of Swim Ireland or have attended an event, please do not re-register on the system as this may cause a duplicate record and your credentials and qualifications will not be attributed to the correct profile.

Commonwealth Games 2018
In April a team of 9 swimmers were selected to represent Northern Ireland in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia from 5th to 10th April.
It is Autumn in Australia with the rainy season providing some challenges to the team in relation to training and racing in the rain.
The team handled the environmental factors very professionally and delivered their best performances when it mattered, returning home with five top 8 individual finishes and two top 8 relay finishes.  Danielle Hill established a new Irish Senior Record in the 50m Freestyle Final, Men’s 4 x 100m Freestyle and Medley Team Relay established new Ulster Senior Representative Records, Conor Ferguson finished 5th and 8th respectively in the 50m and 100m Backstroke, and Barry Mc Clements finished 7th and 8th respectively in the S9 100m Freestyle and S9 100m Backstroke.
A very successful Games for the NI athletes with lots of learning for the Toyko 2020 and the next Commonwealth Games in 2022.
The 2018 Irish Open Swimming Championships took place at the NAC, Dublin from April 4th - 8th. An action packed five days saw National Champions crowned in 34 individual and 7 relay events.

Young People’s Guide to Diving
We were delighted to welcome our divers to the Campus Conference Centre on Saturday last for the premiere of their “ Young People’s Guide to Diving”.

The guide is a youth initiative the divers have been working on since last November; they developed, informed and starred in the production of the 10 minute video guide.

We are very proud of each and every one of them and would like to thank the NAC and all of the coaches for their work and support.

You can watch a short version of the video here with full version coming soon.

The Limerick Masters LC gala was held on April 13th and 14th having been pushed back six weeks due to bad weather in early March. Over 50 clubs with almost 300 competitors competed with 16 Individual National records broken.
The competition was a great success due in no small part to the volunteers from Limerick Masters and Limerick SC who acted as officials and provided lunch for all on the day.
Competition was followed by the club gala night with trophies presented for a variety of events.  Swim Ireland Masters liaison Aisling McKeever also presented the Decathlon Awards to Charlotte Reid, Aer Lingus and Kieran Kelleher, Cork Masters. Click here for Award Winners and Records broken.
