#CNIConf - one amazing weekend!
View this email in your browser
The CNI Network National Conference was a great weekend gathering together 75 people representing 30 local projects within the CNI family. Meeting on Friday afternoon some took part in social media training whereas others took the opportunity to catch up with others from across the UK and Tenerife over cake! Following the first of several delicious meals the evening session was an opportunity to hear from local projects and the impact they are having within local communities. Music was provided by Clare Roberts and Trevor and Helen Bendrien.

The Saturday was geared around workshops which all helped up-skill volunteers in areas of training that wouldn't normally be covered by local projects. Workshops included Asylum Seekers and Refugees, supporting ex-military, interacting with the LGBT community, the Prevent Agenda, attracting high level funders, presentation skills, the occult, sharing your faith and a series of workshops from Mercy UK around helping those with life controlling issues.

Saturday afternoon and evening was aimed at honouring and thanking the amazing volunteers within the CNI family - firstly Sound Portraits proved a moving experience as a group of classical musicians created pieces of music unique to the person with an evening Gala Dinner including gifts and music.

Sunday started with a Prayer Gathering and the main celebration helped us celebrate and thank God for our work as well as be inspired by 3 keynote speakers who all challenged us to be a blessing.

More details on the workshops content is here along with links to resources.

Thanks to Diageo who sponsored the conference and ROC The Fuse who hosted us so well.
From the Blog:
It is great to make some new connections with student groups. We are helping support two students in York who are pioneering a club mission initiative, involving using The Spurriergate Centre as a safe place for students to retreat to on a night out. Catriona and Hollie have a real passion for seeing a change in the student clubbing culture, which is very much one of taking rather than giving and hope to challenge this by being a light in what can be quite extreme darkness for some individuals. Working with and using the model of Night Church in Chester they will be running Night Church York on 28th October, 25th November and 2nd December - see here for details

This weekend sees one of the busiest nights for the night-time economy - Halloween. #CNIPrayer for our teams on this night (Sat 31st October) and for a good and peaceful atmosphere around the pubs and clubs.
Oldham Street Angels have secured funding for a A&E trained nurse to be part of the team thus helping reduce costs and pressure at the local hospital.

Impact:

From one of the local projects: 'I've been thinking of buying some drugs tonight, but the tea and sugar have done the job, I don't need the drugs!'

City Angels Chichester picked up a total of 85 cans/bottles off the streets of Chichester during September!

Jean organised a Spanish Night too help raise funds for Street Angels Spain and CNI Network. The evening was great fun and raised £330 for the work in Magaluf and £182.46 for CNI Network. We are also thrilled to be able to introduce Gary and Sarah (below right) who are taking over the leadership of Street Angels Spain from us (Cameron and Abi left).
CNI Network is a charity with a vision of "Supporting Projects Supporting People". To invest in helping this vision become even more of a reality and to see even bigger community impact in the UK and beyond visit our web site for details of how to give, support and pray.

Read more about our work and impact in November's Christianity magazine.
