T-shirt colors will be grade-specific with the back of the shirt listing the names of all current students in your child’s grade. Gurney students will need their shirts on FIELD DAY/TIGER TREK (June 2) and on GURNEY SPIRIT DAYS throughout the spring.

Box Top Blitz: February 6-10:  Raid your pantry, cut out the Box Top from the package and turn into your classroom.  Gurney earns 10 cents for every Box Top collected.  Last year we raised $2,000 with proceeds benefiting our schools!  During the week of February 6 classrooms will be competing with each other to bring in the most Box Tops.  The classroom at each grade level that collects the most Box Tops will win a pri

One School One Book has begun!  CFIS students are reading Wonder by R. J. Palacio.  The books were donated by Chagrin Falls PTO.

Box Tops Read all about it:  It is that time again for the second box top blitz! Please bring all your box tops in a baggie marked with the child’s name, grade and homeroom teacher. All box tops are due by February 17th and the teachers can begin collecting anytime.  We want to congratulate Mrs. McKelvey’s class for winning the first box tops blitz and celebrating with a Pizza Party.  To make the competition more exciting, we going to award a pizza party to one class in each grade that brings in the most, so put on your charm and call all our relatives, and ask for theirs too. Let’s reach our goal for CFIS and show our Tiger Pride!!
We would like to thank all the families that have brought them in as well as the numerous volunteers that took their time to help count them all, THANK YOU! Because of all of you, we are already half way to our school goal!

We are still looking for a 7th grade parent to chair the 8th grade dance for next year!  This year's 8th grade dance committee is beginning to plan for their dance, so ideally the 7th grade parent would volunteer now so they can see what goes into planning.  Then next year will be a breeze!  If you are interested or want more information, email Annie Amata at

The Middle School has had two Professional Development Grants approved by the PTO so far this year.  Ms. Aranavage,  was able to attend the American Council on Teaching a Foreign Language.  She was excited to bring back the tools and information she gained and share it with the entire Foreign Language Department. Ms. Dennison and Mr. Perrine attended the Ohio Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance's Annual Convention and look forward to sharing some new fun things with our children.
