Next Championship Rounds, 6 & 7, at Oulton Park, June 23

This year, after several years of Oulton being our first meeting of the season, often cold and wet, we shall be there in mid-summer. Hopefully sunny and dry, with less skiddy bits under the trees. It’s another compact meeting, with both qualifying and racing on the International circuit on the Saturday. We’ve already got a very good field entered at this challenging circuit and further entries are welcome until Wednesday, June 20. Contact Chris Yates,

Championship Rounds 8 & 9, Donington Park, July 21/22

Now under the active management of MSV, the exciting Donington Park circuit and the paddock are seeing some big improvements for racers, crews and spectators. 2CV’s will be back there racing over the weekend of July 21/22. If you are not already entered and want to enjoy this amazing free-flowing circuit, then contact Chris Yates before July 18.
The 10th and final round of the Championship is the Liqui Moly 2CV 24 Hour at Snetterton, August 17, 18 & 19.  It helps us all celebrate 70 years of the iconic Citroen 2CV. Already we have more 2CV 602’s entered than for many years. With our racing friends entering their Mini and Euro series cars, we are optimistic of a 40+ car grid, which would be a record.

If you and your pals have been wavering about entering, then now is the time make up your minds. The entry fee is now £2345, which is about 175 busy laps each for £550 if four are sharing the cost. Entry for a typical club race can be £300 for just 14 laps! If you are looking for a seat in a car or a car to rent or maybe a car to buy then contact Alec Graham, here. He can help you in all sorts of ways. And he if he can’t, then he almost certainly knows someone who can.

Alec would also be very interested to hear from you if you have a 2CV race car that you might wish to sell, or to hire out for the 24 Hr. Take a look also at the Club Forum, here.

Do come along and enjoy the 24 Hour weekend:
Not quite on the scale of Le Mans, yet, but you can wander freely round the garages and enjoy the atmosphere, There is free camping with excellent facilities and a weekend ticket is £20. More info here.

‘Professional Motor Sport World Expo 2018’ joins as a commercial partner of the Club

We are delighted to welcome back the company which organises the ‘Professional Motor Sport World Expo 2018’ show in Koln in November as a commercial partner. The management team there have always had a soft spot for 2CV racing. Their much-valued support will help us further extend the digital video webcast coverage of the 24 Hour.

24 Hour Race Poster

The club is designing a poster promoting the Liqui Moly 24 Hour race. With luck, it will be available at Oulton Park.

24 Hour Pitlane and Grid Walk

The 24 Hour should start at 17.00 on the Saturday afternoon. From 16.00 we are planning a 30 minute pitlane and grid walk while the race cars are getting their final prep in the garages.

On the grid area, we also hope to have some interesting Citroen cars on display. Owners of Traction Avant, DS, ID, Decapotable, H Vans and any other interesting Citroens making the trip to the race or which are based in East Anglia are invited to make contact, Before and after the grid walk, all those cars will be on display in a dedicated area near the paddock.

Martin Birrane

As we plan for the 28th running of our unique 24 Hour Race, we pay tribute to Martin Birrane, who has died, aged 82. The first 24 Hr was staged at Mondello Park which he owned and the Club had his generous help and support. We raced there for 14 years and it was a wonderful circuit ideally suited to the 2CV. Martin entered a 2CV team at Mondello and also owned Lola Cars with a big collection of them.

And finally, Adam Lines
Many in the paddock will know Adam Lines, the talented photographer who comes to most of our race meetings. Here are five things you probably don’t know about him:
  1. Adam wears a 2CV T shirt to work, he has two T shirts on constant rotation.
  2. Adam usually walks eight miles per day at a race event.
  3. Adam takes better photos of people that feed him.
  4. Adam loves taking photos of the people in the paddock at the 24 hour events because they are the real heroes.
  5. Adam flashes a lot when he is with a group of people when it gets dark.
