Hello Investors, Partners & Friends,
September brought good and bad news to the Fox Cities economy. Earlier this month, we learned that Metaldyne Performance Group – the new owner of Brillion Iron Works based in Michigan – will be closing the century-old foundry in November. Close to 350 workers will be affected, with the negative economic impact of the job loss estimated at $27.4 million. FCRP and a strong group of local, regional and state partners are working together to mitigate the effects of the announcement.
This month, we also learned that a project involving a new 300,000 sq ft cold storage facility, and the creation of more than 100 new jobs, was moving forward in the Village of Little Chute. The direct economic impact of this project, which the Regional Partnership provided support for, is estimated at over $10 million in new payroll.
Stay tuned for more news and updates on a couple of talent and business recruitment programs coming to the region: Talent Upload, and a site selector familiarization tour of Wisconsin’s I-41 Corridor.
All My Best,
Vice President, Economic Development
