Hello Investors, Partners & Friends,
Last week, Graphic Packaging International announced it will be closing its Menasha facility by the end of the year. The 70-year-old facility is home to more than 220 Fox Cities employees, some of whom will be receiving layoff notices as early as July.
Even though the decision to close the plant was driven by economics and corporate strategy – and not by a negative experience doing business in the Fox Cities – the announcement is certainly a blow to the local economy.
Fox Cities Regional Partnership and other area partners have responded quickly to the news in an effort to mitigate the impact of the plant closure. A meeting with the company’s leadership in Menasha was held earlier this week to discuss ways to promote local job opportunities to employees, as well as bring another company into the facility as soon as possible.
