Dear Riverdale Jewish Community,

In today’s press conference, Governor Cuomo announced that beginning tomorrow, Thursday, May 21, “religious gatherings of no more than 10 people will be allowed statewide.” We are all eager to resume communal religious gatherings. Before we do, we need clear instructions from state and city authorities to produce our own guidelines about how to return safely. We are working diligently toward creating such guidelines that will safeguard the health of all of our community members. As such we cannot reopen at this time. This includes refraining from private or institutional outdoor religious services and gatherings until guidelines and protocols have been developed.

We appreciate everyone's efforts regarding social distancing, and strongly encourage continuing to maintain these protocols. We will communicate guidelines and our plans for reopening as soon as possible. We continue to pray for health and strength and to respond with resolve and safety as a community.

Thank you,
