Get transported to a Winter Wonderland through BGHS Holiday Doors

Do you feel the need to get in the holiday spirit just a little more than you already are? Then watch this video slideshow showing off Battle Ground High School's Holiday Doors decorations! The annual tradition is a favorite among students and staff, and as you can see, they certainly don't hold back when it comes to creativity and holiday spirit!

Focus on giving back

Battle Ground students embrace the joy of holiday giving

With Battle Ground Public Schools’ students and staff about to embark on winter break, the holiday spirit has definitely taken hold. Beyond the decking of halls and the full slate of holiday-themed concerts and performances, teachers, staff and students have been celebrating the holidays in the most appropriate way possible: by working together in the spirit of giving.

Future City Competition gives home-school students another opportunity for project-based learning

In one Battle Ground Public Schools classroom, the cities of tomorrow are being designed today. Students in Kent Graham’s class at River HomeLink are deep in plans to create a future-ready water filtration system. Graham’s classroom was alive on Friday, with students cutting styrofoam to build models, turning plastic bottles into buildings and painting large boards to illustrate imagined water sources for their cities. Pleasant Valley Primary School elves spread holiday cheer with 'Elfmas'

The Pleasant Valley Primary School elves have been quite busy spreading holiday cheer with their annual Elf-mas photo contest on Facebook! On every school day for a two week period, PVP posted a new picture of the elves making merry at a local business. Families could then go to that location and take a photo of themselves to prove they were there. The first family to post a photo from the correct location won a commemorative Elfmas ornament, and the first 20 respondents received a free milk shake or rosemary fries courtesy of Burgerville. It's a holiday favorite for the PVP community, so be sure to go and check out their Elfmas posts on the PVP Facebook page!

LMS art calendar winners

Two student artists from Laurin Middle School—5th Grader Bentley Cosgrove and 8th Grader Cheyenne Sadler—had their submissions selected as winners in The Modern Orthodontist, Gretchen Schnepper DDS, MS' annual calendar design contest! This is the fourth consecutive year that students from teacher Tanya Bachman's class have been selected as winners. In addition to the honor of being published artists at such a young age, each winning artist also won a gift card for art supplies as well as copies of the 2020 calendar to give to classmates and family members. CAM students attend Microsoft's TEALS Computer Science Fair

Early in the week, 29 students from CAM Academy attended the annual Microsoft TEALS Computer Science Fair in Redmond, WA. Students learned about careers and education options within the computer science field, as well as advice for how they can successfully market themselves for internship and education opportunities.

There were about 40 organizations in the exhibit hall representing many different areas of computer science and programming trends, including artificial intelligence, machine learning and virtual reality. You can see more photos from the trip on our Facebook page
