Second 'Farmers to Families' event distributes more than 29 tons of food

Volunteers came together again this week to give out 58,800 lbs. of food at our two high school campuses! The food boxes were provided by the USDA's 'Farmers to Families' program, and the distribution was made possible thanks to the Battle Ground Education Foundation and volunteers from the community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!

BGPS’ Board of Directors conducted a regular board meeting on Sept. 14. Highlights from this meeting is in this week's BG Board, Briefly. The next regular board meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 28 at 6 p.m.

CAM senior Elijah Clark named as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist

Congratulations to CAM Academy senior Elijah Clark on being named a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist! Clark is one of only 16,000 high school students nationwide selected as a semifinalist as part of the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. Over 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and more than half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.

Superintendent Mark Ross meets with BG Rotary Club, talks COVID challenges

This week, Superintendent Mark Ross met virtually with the Battle Ground Rotary Club to talk about the challenges that COVID-19 has placed on the education "norms" for students, parents, teachers and staff.

Ross talked about how when COVID-19 hit last year, the remainder of the school year was a challenge that the district and families were unprepared for.  Because of that, BGPS, along with many other school districts, have spent the summer working towards a cohesive plan for the 2020-21 school year.

BGPS Wi-Fi opened to the public

In response to smoky conditions throughout the region and to assist those displaced by the wildfires, the BGPS district has made its Wi-Fi networks accessible to the public.

To access the network, visitors at our school campuses can connect to the BGPS-Guest network without the need for a password. Once connected, users must agree to a disclaimer with terms and conditions for appropriate use.
