Prairie High School to host Inspire Week for students and staff

by Jacob Granneman, Clark County Today

Leaders at Prairie High School know that identity is one of the most crucial developments in young people’s high school years. They also know what to do about it. From Feb. 11-15, PHS will host its first ever Inspire Week. The week centers on equipping and sending out students to encourage and love their fellow students, staff members and the surrounding community.

Focus on counseling and school culture

Yacolt Primary students show that kindness rocks

A river of kindness flows through Yacolt Primary School, and it totally rocks! Quite literally, in fact. Step into the school’s newly revitalized courtyard, and you’ll immediately see a river of brightly painted rocks emblazoned with messages of kindness and positivity. Every student in the school painted one of their own unique “kindness rocks” for the project, which is just one piece of a school-wide kindness and positivity initiative recently launched at Yacolt Primary.

“As a school counselor, one of my biggest goals is to help create a culture of kindness,” said Nathan Simons, Yacolt's school counselor. “Research shows that creating a positive school culture reduces bullying, aggression, and disruptive classroom behaviors, and we’re already seeing results.” Read the rest of the article on our website

The end of the semester means it's time for Laurin's bi-annual art shows

With the semester coming to a close this week, that means it's time for Laurin Middle School's bi-annual end-of-semester student art show! Art teacher Tanya Bachman invites parents to the classroom, where students show off their best work from the semester (with the help of classmates) and describe the techniques, concepts, and inspiration behind their creations. The kids in this 6th grade class did a fantastic job describing their excellent work! Visit our Facebook page to see more photos of the students presenting their work.

Pleasant Valley Primary shows appreciation for their bus drivers

Pleasant Valley Primary wanted to show their appreciation for the school's bus drivers, so they treated the hard working, dedicated crew to Dot Donuts and McSteven's hot chocolate on Wednesday. Thank you to all of the BGPS bus drivers for being an integral part of educating our students! We appreciate you!
