Battle Ground schools committee meets to examine overcrowding

Battle Ground Public Schools' Overcrowding Advisory Committee started its work this week to look at overcrowding in the district's schools. The Board of Directors has tasked the committee with bringing to it recommendations on how to address overcrowding and continued growth.

At its first meeting on Tuesday, the committee assessed its task and reviewed enrollment data and the results of a community survey conducted last spring on considerations around overcrowding.

Get to know new Battle Ground High School Principal Charbonneau Gourde

Charbonneau Gourde is the new principal of Battle Ground High School. Gourde took over for Mike Hamilton, who retired at the end of the 2017-18 school year. Check out our interview on BGHS' news page!
BGPS’ Board of Directors conducted a regular board meeting on Monday, September 24. Highlights from the meeting is in this week's BG Board, Briefly. The next regular board meeting will be held on Monday, October 8 at 6 p.m. on the Lewisville campus.

Healthy Youth Survey is coming Oct. 15-19

Our schools will participate in the 2018 Healthy Youth Survey during the week of Oct. 15-19. Washington students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 take the survey every other year.

The Healthy Youth Survey asks questions about risks for injury, health outcomes, and alcohol and drug use. Survey results are used by schools, communities and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks.

Participation in the survey is voluntary and the students’ answers are anonymous. Visit our website for more information.
