BGHS and Prairie launch esports teams

Esports are now an option for students at Battle Ground and Prairie high schools. The programs are sanctioned by the WIAA as part of a two-year trial to gauge interest at schools around the state. Ten BGHS and five PHS students signed up to take part in the new team sport, which includes matches in games like Rocket League, DOTA 2 and League of Legends. Esports is one of the fastest-growing spectator sports in the world, with revenues of $1.79 billion in 2020. Tournaments are now featured on ESPN and other television networks, often selling out entire stadiums. To learn more about the esports program and what it offers, read our story on the BGPS news blog.
