Earlier this month, at the request of Local members, NAGE conducted an online survey to see if members wished to reorganize Local 458, creating a new Local for Assistant Chief Court Officers.
The results of the survey revealed that Assistant Chief Court Officers overwhelmingly wished to operate in an environment that included only ACCOs, while Court Officers were almost equally split about whether they believed it made sense to keep ACCOs in Local 458.
As a result of the survey’s findings, I believe it is in the best interests of all Court Officers to create a new Local for Assistant Chief Court Officers.
The first step in this process is to ratify new Local by-laws for each group. Please find the proposed by-laws for a new Local that includes only Assistant Chief Court Officers linked below, and on the Local 458 website.
The proposed by-laws create an Executive Board with five offices: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Chief Steward, directly elected by the membership. Otherwise, the by-laws are the same as those in which you operated under as members of Local 458.
The ratification vote will be held open until October 6, 2022.
Once new by-laws are ratified, an election will be held to fill the five (5) Executive Board seats. A tentative schedule is as follows: October 17 Nominations Open November 1 Nominations Close November 3 Ballots Mailed November 22 Ballots Counted
Newly-elected officers will be sworn into office effective January 1, 2023.
In solidarity,
David J. Holway
National President
