Update from the
Head of School
Once again we have reached the end of an exceptional year at FHS and the summer holidays are upon us.
We started the year having achieved a valued added of 1027 for the previous Year 11 cohort placing us in the top 12% of similar schools in the country and we finish with the news that in Year 7 we will be oversubscribed!
The school has hit the headlines for the numerous achievements of staff and students, the most recent being the launch of a film for the Sharp Shotz competition, which promoted a national campaign to support the work of the NSPCC. This was written, directed and produced entirely by FHS students for which I am extremely proud.
We have completed our first full year of being an Academy and this has had a very positive impact on the school. We also celebrate ten years on our current site and look forward with ambition to the next decade and beyond.
We were delighted to have our work in developing the whole student recognised by being reaccredited with the Employability Chartermark. Our strong Business in the Community link with Burges Salmon ensures we are leading best practice for employability.
The school will of course not be closing its doors over the summer holidays – we will be holding our popular, annual Year 6 Summer School and providing support for other students to improve their achievements.
As one of our supporters I would like to thank you for your links with us. Great partnerships are a key aspect of what makes us such a unique school. I am really looking forward to record GCSE results in the summer and another fantastic year in 2016-2017.
