Safety Through Solidarity: Show up for Chicago-Area Muslim and Trans Communities

The same hatred that led to yet another round of bomb threats targeting Jewish Community Centers and the desecration of Jewish cemeteries is behind the violence targeting Muslim communities and the administration's rollback of protections for trans students.

Now more than ever, we as a Jewish organization must continue to join in solidarity against hate whether it targets Jews, Muslims, immigrants, transgender individuals, People of Color, people belonging to any other group, and people belonging to more than one of these groups.

Solidarity Rally for the Islamic Community Center of Des Plaines
Friday, 3/3 12:30-1:30

Join JVP-Chicago and allies to support the Islamic Community Center of Des Plaines, which recently received a bomb threat and has been dealing with local activity from anti-Muslim hate group Act for America.

We will rally this Friday, 3/3 at 12:30 outside of the Islamic Community Center of Des Plaines at 480 Potter Road (zip 60016). Bring signs expressing your solidarity with Muslims against Islamophobia. From 12:30-1:30 we will greet worshipers coming for the 12:30 and 1:30 prayer services.

Trans Liberation Protest Chicago
Friday 3/3 6:00-8:00

On Friday evening, 3/3 from 6:00-8:00 join us at Wacker and Wabash in Downtown Chicago in response to a call for solidarity from the trans community in the face of Trump's rollback of protections for trans students. This protest is led by the trans community, including JVP-Chicago activist Stephanie Skora.

This is a cause dear to my heart as I have a trans daughter who transitioned at the end of college. After going through a dark time, she is fully enjoying life as a trans lesbian woman and programmer who fights for trans rights from her home in Cambridge, MA. Let's show our support for trans rights as they are under attack!
