Setting Goals..Growing Habits

Hi dear art lovers, creatives and otherwise interested ones,

this months Pondering is about changing your ways. Here's my 2 cents on the matter: Setting intentions is great, growing habits is better. I've learned that true change comes only when you allow yourself to transform your wishes, your desires and your formulated intentions into good habits. It is not hard to do things differently. It is hard to keep doing them differently.

For something to work on the long run and become 'easy', you need to give it time to evolve, to grow on you, to repeat the proces, see what works and what doesn't, make mistakes, be confronted with why you've been not-doing-it for so long, to realise that your fears on the matter are really not helping you and often plain silly. Only then it will start feeling less ackward or forced to stick with your plan and effectively change your ways.

That said, I've been very impatient with myself. A while ago I set some goals to get my webshop ready before the end of the year. To have the time to set things up properly, finishing other projects first, and then putting it out there. In all my excitement however, I told a lot of people I would do it in October. I really wanted to get it done and in a way I hoped that if I would just say it out load, that would magically help me do it. Turns out, the planning I made a while ago was realistic, my excitement and urge to get there sooner, was not.

Soo..setting realistic goals, allowing yourself the time to get things done without rushing, not feeling like you're failing because you're not there yet, being proud of everything you are doing and being kind to yourself while doing it: Patience is key and I'm learning to have it.

Below a few things I am proud of:

BeestjesBende!

Last month we did the pilot for our new Toverbosch project called BeestjesBende and it was a great success! Combining Art Education, Nature Education and Mindfulness was really fun.

We made Insects in 2D and 3D, we cleaned up, we soaked up all kinds of facts in several games and assignments and learnt how to use nature to calm ourselves when we need it.

So much more to tell, but I'll let the photos do the work!

Gulden Klinker for Toverbosch

Last year Toverbosch was nominated for a Gulden Klinker, a reward for social initiatives adding value to our city. It comes with a bit of financial support for our project and a 'klinker' right behind our entrance.

We are thankful and as you can see also very proud of our truly special brick to remind ourselves of the hard work we've put in and the support we have from so many beauiful people!

Behind the scenes..

Although I'm not done building the webshop yet, I can give you a little teaser right? Above a sneak peek of the menu, for I will be selling high quality Art Prints, Original Art, several types of Limited Edition Printmaking and yes, also Stickers and Pins in time. This little Schildwants Pin (a.k.a. the Stinkbug) to our left is the first one and will be available at the launch!

Dates & Events:

Friday the 25th of November you can join our Lampionnenoptocht through the neighbourhood, starting and ending at Toverbosch with hot chocolate ♥.

This year we have a Fire, Light and Laser show done by Fire Artist Collective de Bokkepootjes and Numtek.

You can make your own lantern the Thursday before at Toverbosch.

That would be all for now. My next Newsletter will be about Motivation vs Commitment, since I am experiencing the full spectrum of these right now.

Enjoy your Sunday.
You'll hear from me soon!
