April

CACG wishes you a wonderful start to spring! The months leading up to summer are a great time to complete some important action steps in the college process, detailed below for grades 9-12.

Seniors

Please be mindful of the approaching May 1st deadline to make an admissions deposit to one (and only one) college. Make sure you release decisions at colleges you have been accepted to and do not plan to attend. Remember to accept any waitlist offers if you intend to remain on the waitlist at any colleges. Click HERE for more information on how to proactively navigate waitlist decisions. Remember to thank teachers and counselors who were helpful during the college process. Keep working hard in all of your classes and finish with the same thoughtfulness you began the year with!

Juniors

Confirm with your recommenders that they will be writing your letters of recommendation. Continue to utilize all of the resources available to you to learn about colleges on your exploratory list. Click HERE to see some of CACG's favorite books and HERE for a list of helpful websites. Additionally, begin to book virtual and in person visits when possible and participate in virtual college fairs. NACAC is hosting upcoming fairs. Click HERE for information. The CollegeBoard is also offering upcoming events. Click HERE for more information. If you have not already, create your Common Application account. Begin by filling out the profile, family, education, activity, and testing sections. Make sure your resume is also up to date as some colleges allow you to upload a copy of your resume into the application. The Common Application recently released their 2021-2022 essay prompts. Start to think about your personal essay, a key piece to presenting yourself to colleges. Click HERE for CACG's thoughts on how to begin this process and dispel any potential concerns. Keep working hard in all of your classes and finish strong!

Sophomores

Solidify your upcoming plans to ensure a meaningful summer. Schedule a meeting with your high school counselor and review your transcript to date. It can be helpful to see how a university will be viewing your academic performance. As you continue to build out your exploratory list, participate in virtual college fairs. NACAC is hosting upcoming fairs. Click HERE for information. The CollegeBoard is also hosting upcoming events. Click HERE for more information. As the school year starts to come to a close, remember to remain focused, thoughtful, and finish strong!

Freshmen

Confirm the meaningful summer plans you have developed. Click HERE for CACG's summer sampler list if you would like additional ideas. As the school year heads to a close, finish the way you started. Remember to ask for help when you need it. Teachers, parents, and counselors are ready to assist you during this busy and exciting time!
