"Where do I begin...?"
My trip to the Middle East began like most trips.  Lots of preparation, lots of preparation!  Weeks before departure there were meetings, fundraising, conversations with partners, then purchasing and packing all that I would need to present and build an aquaponics system… There are a ton of details to work out, not to mention preparing my family, home and business.
The first couple of days in Lebanon were filled with confirming the correct materials, loading and transporting all the materials and supplies, and a site evaluation all of which covered many miles and many hours. It was after midnight that second day that I crawled onto the mattress and went to sleep.

Early the next morning I called LeeAnn and received the news that Joelle, our three year old granddaughter, was taken to the hospital by ambulance.  This started a long chain of events that stretched our family beyond our abillty and capacity… She had a siezure, which had never happened before.  In route to the hospital she had more siezures. After tests, it was determined that she had a brain tumor about the size of a peach pit and would need surgery which was scheduled for three days later.  Our whole family was in shock.  It was Sunday morning and for the next 12 plus hours, I was getting bits and pieces of information and worked on getting an emergency flight home.
♥♥♥ Early morning snuggles before the surgery.... ♥♥♥
Just a few days after the surgery!

As I look back over the last three and half weeks, I am filled with gratitude and praise.  In this dark valley, God met us in a miraclous way.  We could fill pages of testimomy from my flight home to God’s healing hand working through nurses and doctors...  Truly amazing! Our granddaughter is doing wonderfully and recoving well. Her surgery went as well as we had all hoped, the tumor was removed completely and any concerns the doctors had from the effects of surgery… speech and movement… were not there. She woke up in recovery calling for Mama and is running around and playing as if nothing has happened. She will be monitored closely, but for now the doctors are saying there is no further treatment needed…

For all of you who prayed and are praying, and to those who came by our side we say thank you!  Words are inadequate to express our gratitude and thanksgiving to all that God has done.  He has carried us through!

Obviously, I did not complete my mission.  We have resheduled the project for the Spring of 2017.  We are currently planning on working in two countries in the Middle East, as well as building a system in Utah, and continuing to follow up on a system that was built locally all in the first part of 2017!

On this Thanksgiving eve, LeeAnn and I want to thank you for your love and support!   It has meant so much to us particularly this last few weeks.  May God grant you peace and provide for you in every way!
It Is Well With Our Soul,
                                                  Don and LeeAnn
