  • Masks are not required for those who have been fully vaccinated. In light of heightened concerns about the Delta variant, however, use of masks indoors are strongly encouraged.

  • Masks ARE required indoors for those who are not vaccinated.

THIS Sunday, September 12th. Good Shepherd is moving forward in faith as we step UP to God in worship; IN to discipleship with one another; and OUT in service to the world around us.
Pastor Curtis will kick-off a New Sermon Series on the Book of Galatians.
Life Group Learning and Sign-up opportunities will be available after the 9am and 11am Worship Gatherings. Lunch on campus for everyone - provided by the In-N-Out truck beginning at 11:15am! 

Memorial Service for Julie Varley and Margot Overholt

A Celebration of Life Service for Julie Varley and Margot Overholt will be held on Saturday, September 18th at 11am in the Sanctuary. Their family invites all fully vaccinated guests to join in person (please register at by Sunday, September 12th). Those not fully vaccinated are invited to join in the livestream at View the invitation here.

A weekly All-Church dinner and fellowship time from 5:30pm-6:30pm begins on Wednesday, September 15th. Donation: $5 per person, $20 per family. All ages at Good Shepherd have a time to break bread together. Children, youth and adult worship and discipleship opportunities will be happening before and after our shared meal-time together.

For Our Children

Sunday School is returning to our newly renovated Kids Classrooms starting Sunday, September 12th. Join us at either 9AM or 11AM worship and kids will be invited to classrooms after the Time for Young Disciples.

Wednesday Nights are kicking off Wednesday, September 15th. Join us for dinner starting at 5:30 until worship begins at 6:30. Age-appropriate kid lessons, youth group and adult life-groups will happen from 7-8pm.

Harmony and Hymns

Join us once a month at 4:15pm beginning on September 15th in the Sanctuary. Explore the history, authors, and stories behind our faith's favorite hymns with Peggy Malbon. Join in, sing, and stay for dinner! Contact Carol Jaeger at with questions. 


Those who are mourning the death of a loved one are invited to join the next session of GriefShare, a faith-based support group for comfort and healing. The series begins with registration and orientation on Tuesday, September 28th,10am-12noon, in the

"Grandparenting Matters"

Are you or do you hope to be a Grandparent one day? Grandparents are the second most influential person in a child's life, right behind parents. "Grandparenting Matters" will equip you with practices to implement in passing on your faith, and provide a strategy to reach the hearts of your grandchildren. Our desire is for you to be awakened to the role that no one else in your family can fill. Come join us to become an "Intentional Christian Grandparent" on Wednesday's at 7pm in Room 5 beginning September 15th. 

Fit and Faithful Exercise Class

Fit and Faithful returns to campus on Mondays and Thursdays, beginning September 13th at 11:30am in the Gym. It's time to start moving again together! Classes are $2/session. Contact Carol Jaeger at, or 562/493.2553 x105 with questions. 

Red Cross Blood Drive-Tuesday, September 21st, 10-4pm, Zirbel Hall

The need is great, the reward is life giving! Each pint has the potential to save multiple lives! Donating at GSPC is convenient and safe for our members and the surrounding community. Serve on Sundays

Our coffee and donut fellowship is starting again on Sunday, September 19th. If you would be willing to serve donuts or be a Plaza Host in making and setting up coffee between services one Sunday a month, please call Theresa Whitehead-Collie at 714/307.0469 or 562/431.8070. 

Senior "Prime Time"

Welcome back "Music with Mike" as Mike Chamberlain returns on Thursday, September 16th at 1pm in Zirbel Hall with favorite hymns, songs, and stories through the decades. RSVP to Carol Jaeger, or 562/493.2553 x105.

Cancer Support Group

Our next Cancer Support Group at Good Shepherd will be September 14th at 7pm on Zoom. All cancer patients and their caregivers, past and present, are encouraged to join our group for support and prayer. Contact Shawna Escovedo at 562/400.7582 or Heidi Butcher at 714/319.5040 with questions.

Gospel Sing-Along

Please join us on Friday, September 17th from 6:30-8pm in the Fireside Room to make joyful noise unto the Lord. If you play, feel free to bring an acoustic instrument. Simple chords! Country gospel. Music provided.

Rising TIDE Afterschool Program

Rising TIDE is the afterschool program in downtown Long Beach that we support as a local mission. Until September 19th, any gift we give to Rising TIDE will be matched twice. If you want to help support a free program where students get homework help and enrichment activities, this is the month to give! Write your check out to Rising TIDE, date it September 19th, and bring it to Sue Brown at the table on the walkway after first service. You can also drop it in the offering boxes. Thank you! 

Flu Shots!

We have been given an extra allotment of Senior flu shots. These are free! Call the church office to sign up (Senior flu shots only). Both Senior and regular flu shot dates are September 26th and October 3rd, between services, in Zirbel Hall. Regular shots are for anyone over the age of 9. Please wear short sleeves. If you are unable to attend, please call the church office or Beth at 562/598.5136 and leave a message-she does house calls!

If you are financially able during this season, please continue resourcing the cause of Christ in our community. We receive checks by mail, electronic funds transfer (EFT) from banks, as well as offerings via, by texting GSPC to 833/416.5698, and via PushPay. In addition, a locked drop-off mailbox is available on campus, near the main green gate entrance from the parking lot.
