2016 Explore-a-thon - Saturday, October 22nd

Join us for an extra special day at the museum where participants will enjoy and discover the museum galleries along with .“Exploration Stations” that will be set up in our expansive space behind the galleries. Exploring Magnetism and Circuits and creating a community yarn sculpture have been popular “stations” likely to be part of this year's experience. All stations are designed to nurture curiosity, enhance knowledge and excite the imagination. New this year will be a center stage area with performances scheduled throughout the day. Like every day at WCM, children of all ages can play and learn simultaneously.

Event Sponsorships Range from $50 to $5000.

Free with Museum admission.
The Westchester Children’s Museum seeks to provide children and their families the opportunity to engage each other across a broad spectrum of cultural, ethnic, and economic diversity in a safe, engaging, child-friendly environment. With that in mind we joined two initiatives.

Museums for All: An Initiative of the Institute of Museum and Library Services ensures every family and child has access to museum experiences. Museums for All offers a discounted admission to any individual or group of up to four individuals presenting and Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. We are providing admission of $3 per person with presentation of the EBT card and a valid ID. More information here.

Blue Star Museum Program, an initiative of the National Endowment of the Arts and provides free admission to the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. HOWEVER, we have opted to make this a year round benefit and always provide free admission to this audience. More info here.

Present: The Art of Laura R. Lavan (2015-2016) showcases the current work of Westchester artist Laura R. Lavan. Laura will generously donate all proceeds from the sale of her art from this show to benefit the Museum.  Sculptures and paintings will be showcased at the Oresman Gallery located in the newly renovated Larchmont Library on Larchmont Avenue from September 12 to October 3.
Ms. Lavan has happily served the Museum in multiple capacities. She currently sits on our Advisory Board and was the Westchester Children’s Museum’s first President.

Please come visit the Oresman Gallery in Larchmont to view the show and support the Museum and the Larchmont Library.
