Wismar: EPIC Workshop to local energy symbiosis in the industrial wood-cluster area

45 experts from Germany, Sweden, Greece and Italy have met to first business forum of the business Association of Wismar (WWG). They have explored where there is close to harbours bioenergy resource potentials who can be used by a symbiosis of industrial enterprise.

Four ports, four different stories

Following a brief assessment of the port of Mantova (IT) in the previous Newsletter, we now expose the cases of Wismar (DE), Malmö (SE) and Astakos (GR). All have been shown to have a similar level of bioenergy potential.  However, each of them exhibits unique features which explain their existing symbiotic profile and their future potential. Port of Astakos Incubator

The aim was to build a network development plan which will be the driving force of making optimal use of the port hinterland’s bio-asset and bio-energy potential. The Incubator kick-off meeting took place in Agrinio city on 22/12/2014, with 20 participants, 6 from the public sector, 14 private enterprises. Several incubator meetings were held since then.

10th edition of GreenPort Congress 2015 in Copenhagen

In the beginning of October Epic 2020 project participated in the Green Port Congress 2015, which was hosted by Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP). The congress provided decision makers from the port community - port authorities, terminal operators, shipping lines, logistics operators - with a meeting place to both learn about and discuss the latest in sustainable development and environmental practice to enable them to effectively implement the changes needed to reduce their carbon footprint and to be more sensitive to environmental considerations.

Podcast "The Green Exchange" released a new episode about circular economy!

"In this Green Exchange briefing, we receive Ida AukenSpokesperson for the Social Liberal Party in the Danish Parliament for Business & Environment / Minister of Environment 2011-2014and review with her the main happenings within the circular economy discussion this year. With the upcoming policy package coming up in Brussels, the year has been rich in events and activities; we compile conclusions from a selection of reports and seminars."

The “Re-design Innovation Jam” in Copenhagen, 14-16th November, is designed to engage waste experts, engineers, designers and eco-entrepreneurs in prototyping concepts that will help phase out plastics that are problematic when recycling, with parallel keynote speakers and mentoring. The 16th will be a day of dialog and workshops  that engages municipalities waste management professionals to advance the dialogue.
