We are approaching Christmas, and a new year filled of new opportunities for good cooperation’s and resourcefully developments. Within the EPIC 2020 project 2015 have been a year with a lot of hard work and efforts to reach useful results that hopefully will start to be implemented in 2016. During the next year we will continue our efforts to the end of the project, and beyond.

EPIC RegioPower logistic tool

Detecting untapped bio-resources and activation for use in a circular economy is the objective of the EPIC-RegioPower logistic tool. Behind this is a new type of virtual resources marketplace, which represents not only offers but also demands to concrete bio-resources and the relation to the corresponding logistics costs.

EPIC 2020 conference at Ecomodo fair, traced the next steps toward implementation bio-economy through the industrial symbiosis concept.

The conference, organized by AGIRE Energy Management Agency with the Province of Mantova, and included into the official congress program of the International Fair of ECOMONDO within the theme of Industrial Symbiosis, has seen alternating among the speakers at a series of important contributions for the Industrial Symbiosis implementation in Mantova region. Mantova was in fact defined by EPIC as the port site with the greater bio-potential, and thanks to the studies conduced till now by the local partners, the harbor of Mantova is a suite place for investment in bio-based exploitation plants.
The pool of shown feasibilities and the series of action undertook by local policy makers are making Mantova as a site looking toward a real implementation of the Industrial Symbiosis, crossing it historical primary economy (the province is one of the richest in Italy for typical food products and cooking) and its most recent enterprise in the big petrochemical since 50s’. more >>

Cooperation projects in the Baltic Sea Region - EPIC 2020 as innovative contribution to the regional development in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

The State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern held on December 8th, 2015 a conference on "Cooperation projects in the Baltic Sea Region - Innovative contributions to regional development in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern". The invitation to the Chamber of Commerce Schwerin followed about 80 guests. They came from the fields of science and industry, authorities and associations.
 
The objectives of this conference were:
  • Presentation of contributions of transnational and cross-border cooperation in the Baltic region for regional development in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania;
  • Discussion of ways to better use the potentials of the Baltic Sea co-operation for the country.

Illustrating Biomass-to-Bioenergy Connectivity

The good news is that the Governments have recently decided to boost renewable energy production. The question is, how can we prioritise feedstocks and technology? How can investors uncover the most potent resources out there, and how can they find out the relevant actors?

January 27-28th 2016 - SymCity and EPIC seminar in Norrköping
 
The 27-28th of January the conference SymCity will be held in Norrköping. This year’s theme is Transformation of cities and will among other focus on Industrial Symbiosis. The EPIC project is participating with presentations during the official program, and is also arranging a seminar for more in depth discussions within the field of industrial symbiosis and results from the project. more >>
