Happy Anniversary, Junior League of Phoenix!

On Feb. 9, Junior League of Phoenix will celebrate its 85th anniversary.

85 years of financial impact to over 140 community partners.
85 years of training women to lead in and significantly improve our community.
85 years of empowering women.
85 years of giving back to our community through member volunteer hours.

Every day for the past 85 years, Junior League of Phoenix members have made the conscious decision to impact their community for the better. The citizens of Phoenix thank you. Our community partners thank you. I thank you.

Cheers to 85 more years of this incredible network of women, empowered as leaders, creating sustainable community change.

Warm Regards,
           Wendy K. Brooks
           President, 2018-2020
Junior League of Phoenix 85th Anniversary Celebration and $85,000 Grant!
To celebrate our 85th year, Junior League of Phoenix is giving an $85,000 grant to the Phoenix Rescue Mission. The funds will be used to purchase a mobile food pantry truck with two portable kitchen units.

The mobile pantry will be branded with the Junior League 85th Anniversary logo and wrapped with nutritional information. Phoenix Rescue Mission will use these mobile kitchens to teach at the Hope for Hunger Food Bank or at events with the mobile pantry.

One in six families in Maricopa County identifies as food insecure, meaning that they often miss meals to make food budgets stretch. Even with free and reduced lunch programs, one in five children goes to bed hungry. Today, Phoenix Rescue Mission serves 180 households each and every day in the Hope for Hunger food bank in Glendale. Providing the funds for this mobile pantry allows greater expansion of the Food Bank program: to neighborhood parks, the neighborhood school, community centers, libraries, and public venues in walking distance or short bus trips to eliminate any transportation hurdles.

This ties in seamlessly with JLP's focus area of Building a Healthy Arizona, and we cannot wait to unveil the bus during our 85th Anniversary Celebration on Feb. 9.
