PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

We are living in unprecedented times with the fear of the unknown coupled with the grief, worry and despair of what has already transpired these past several weeks.  We have all been impacted by COVID-19. Please know that our primary concern is for the health and well being of the people and communities we serve.

One area that the Junior League of Phoenix has been able to assist our community is by donating items and building weekend food backpacks for underserved children, some of our most vulnerable citizens.  Our community partner, the United Way, picked up and will deliver 222 bags to those that need it most.  Additionally, we also ask those that are healthy to assist at food banks, give blood and most importantly, stay home as much as possible to help stop the spread of this deadly virus.

We are an organization of unstoppable women. Now is the time to prove, once again, the power of female leadership to transform communities for the better.

I wish you all good health,

 Wendy K. Brooks

COMMUNITY NEWS
Southwest Human Development strengthens the foundation Arizona’s children need for a great start in life. By providing high-quality programs and services, they aim to support children’s growth and development and to help parents feel more confident and competent. They exist because they know that a child’s early experiences has the greatest impact on their future learning, health and development.

In this time of uncertainty, Southwest Human Development knows it’s of utmost importance to help parents and caregivers meet their children’s basic needs. Therefore, they have mobilized an online shopping cart to let the community help provide these essentials to families who need them the most.

Here’s how you can help! Go online to www.swhd.org/jlp and add the basic needs package you’d like to donate to your shopping cart! We’ll get those items to families in our community who need them the most!

Added bonus! Your virtual drive donation is eligible for a dollar-for-dollar Arizona Charitable Tax Credit.
Donate to SWHD!
More than 220 weekend food backpacks were packed and delivered to the United Way! Thank you to our members and community friends who donated to this initiative.
