MA Newsletter

December 2014

After reviewing a number of promising candidates Mission Anabaino (MA) is still continuing its nationwide search for an Executive Director for our to-be-established Christian Counseling Center. MA is experiencing a number of preliminary inquiries which we hope to thoroughly research during the month of September. The job posting and the Center's Commitments and Core Values are available both here and on the MA website.

Please continue to pray for a successful recruiting and engagement process for the Center's new Executive Director.

LOCAL CHURCHES
CPC The Hill

Chip Anderson, Interim Pastor at CPC in the Hill, with his wife Lisa, continue to be enthusiastically engaged in the worship and ministry activities in the Hill.  With the very successful summer Wednesday night "Bible and BBQ" closed down until next year a whole range of fall and holiday activities came out of the “Planning and Pizza” night in October including: Kids Harvest Night  on 10-29, Leaf Raking and Out Reach on 11-08, Thanksgiving Feast on 11-09, teen trip to Newport, RI, on 11-11 and a very successful Christmas Store on December 6th.

Chip tells us that Sunday worship services are going well and the congregation is hard at work incorporating suggested changes to improve the service.

Please pray for spiritual growth and continuing Christ-centered, joy-filled activity and worship calendars in the Hill church through the Holiday Season and for God’s comfort and wisdom to flow out of the in-home visits Chip makes every week for both the members of the congregation and the un-churched in the Hill neighborhood.

Christ the Shepherd Presbyterian Church

David Hutchinson, Danbury's Christ the Shepherd (CtS) church pastor, reports that new ministry plans have been created for the next twelve months in important areas including Discipleship and Training, Outreach, Worship and Shepherding, just to name a few.

This fall the CtS congregation continued with the substantial progress made during the summer months in projects such as finishing the new website and Facebook pages, maintenance/enhancement on the buildings and grounds and completing the sale of the cell tower lease with proceeds to significantly reduce the mortgage on the church property.

David asks prayer for (i) continued productive leadership training for the church’s two elder candidates, Kevin Carroll and Mark Anderson, (ii) effective programs to create a steady stream of new visitors, (iii) adequate advance time weekly for sermon and worship preparation to create smoothly delivered Sunday Services, (iv) a growing time, talent and treasure commitment from regular Sunday attenders.

GLOBAL CHURCHES
Mission Anabaino

Praise that CPC/MA continues to receive strongly positive feedback from the Annual MA Global Collaborative Conference held October 19 - 22 hosted by MA Global Church Planter Kyle Parker in Spokane WA. and attended by 21 pastors from around the country.  MA Newsletter readers will recall that the MA Annual Global Collaborative presents  a unique opportunity for pastors to convene over meals, in break-out groups and free time, away from their traditional schedules, to prayerfully study, reflect, discuss and debate the fundamental tenets of our Reform Faith as captured in the Total Christ Five Mark Church as they define themselves in the local church.

Mission Anabaino continues to receive and process a steady stream of attractive global church planting inquiries.  Adding to candidate Luke Potter in South Bend Indiana please pray for Dan Herron in Bloomington, Indiana and Jon Talley in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The third MA Collaborating Group Video Conference took place on December 11 with six pastors in attendance. Docket items for the call included personal sharing and prayer, lively discussion on pre-sent articles about the celebration of Christmas and CPC’s position on “Holy Days”  (particularly Christmas and Easter), and a presentation on issues and opportunities from a participating, pre-selected church plant; this time Chris Robins shared comments about his ministry in San Francisco.

Glory San Francisco

Chris Robins, MA Church planter/collaborator in San Francisco, requests prayer for continued growth and strengthening of the Glory San Francisco core group, success in fundraising and outreach, and finding worship space as they are rapidly outgrowing their living room for Bible Study.

New Hope Presbyterian Church in Mirebalais, Haiti

With the help of the South Florida Presbytery, Mission Anabaino is in the midst of sorting out the issues related to successfully re-starting robust worship services at our sponsored New Hope Presbyterian Church in Mirebalais, Haiti.

Please pray for a thoughtful and lasting resolution to the outstanding questions that remain in the way of restarting worship services.

South Bend Church Plant

Luke Potter, our MA Global Collaborator Candidate in South Bend, requests prayer for a successful ordination process, growth and strengthening in his Core Group Bible Study, fundraising, more meaningful contact with neighbors, and the spiritual and physical well-being of his family.

Dan Herron, MA Global Church Plant Site Candidate in Bloomington, Indiana, requests prayer for wise counsel in regular attendee couples that are split on whether to join the church or not, for rest, and intentional renewal in marriage during this busy season.
