Church Planting and Empowerment Ministry
Christ Presbyterian Church, New Haven CT

June 2016
Dear Friends and Supporters of MA,

The months of May and June are at once hectic, fulfilling, and strategic times for Mission Anabaino. Hectic in that it is typically a season of important organizational development and logistics, lots of logistics, in the execution of our annual church planter collaborative in missional ecclesiology.  Fulfilling in that it is a season for encouragement and mutual support of fellow church planters TOGETHER at our collaborative coupled with four collaborative sessions that challenge us to go deep in our "Christology applied to mission" thesis. Strategic in that it is an especially important time for recruitment.

In this newsletter you'll read about several new hires, and reflections from our 2016 Annual Collaborative with over 30 church planters and collaborators.  Please share with us in the joy of God's movement as we seek to glorify Him and His kingdom.

Affectionately and Enthusiastically,

 Rev. Dr. Preston Graham Jr.
 Executive Director, Mission Anabaino
Sr. Pastor, Christ Presbyterian Church New Haven

"I was invited by Mark (MA Global Church Planter) to come along, and this has been really good for me to hear a lot more from Preston and others about what it’s all about.  I like the idea of Total Christ, taking something we so often segregate as one little idea, and saying how does it permeate through everything we do...I’ve always loved going to Presbytery meetings because I feel encouraged by hearing all the other stories and feeling like ok, I’m not alone.  It’s easy to feel alone when you  are working in your own church and it feels like it’s you against the world and you're trying to build this little group of people.  But to hear the stories (from other MA Church Planters and Collaborators) and be encouraged by what God is doing and to remember the church is so much bigger than our little locale is encouraging to me." - Sam Foster, Medina, OH

"I think that one of the dangers of church planting is that if you figure out the right techniques, and programs, and structures, we can build a very healthy church.  Sometimes that can be true, but at the end of the day people change and their views on life change, and if your programs are built around people's whims eventually you're going to have to scrap programs and rethink and reformulate and every five years you're changing your mission statement and you're changing your direction.  So what MA's really done well and what it's really helped me with is creating that theological framework that's really built on scripture, that we would all say we want to be our main driving force, being a scripturally based church." - Jon Talley, Milwuakee, WI.
