|Tell us about your first exposure to the arts? My first exposure to art was from my mother when I was a young boy. We use to create stain glass windows together. This ultimately became the inspiration for my art. I like to think you can see the influence of color and layering when looking at my pieces.
How would you describe your work? I use thousands of pieces to create an image of whatever inspires me. I love history so my work often captures historical figures and is interlaced with newspaper clippings and intricate details about their lives.
Who has influenced you the most?
Picasso, he has really influenced how we see many things even outside of the art realm whether you know it or not.
The project you are most proud of?
I like to think my work is always evolving and hopefully I haven’t created my best work yet.
Artists that you admire? Picasso & Domingo Zapata. I’m lucky to have an amazing mentor and friend, Domingo Zapata. When we first met, he showed me how to really think outside the box and create my own vision. He always emphasized that I shouldn’t worry about what I think people want me to create, but instead, follow my passion and create what I love.
What do you have coming up? Currently, working on Miami Art Basel. Details are coming soon.
