Guitar N.E.R.Ds unite!

26 - 28 March
Royal Academy of Music Aalborg

N.E.R.D. (Nordic Elaboration of Rhythmical Didactics) is a 3-day-meeting for pop/jazz/rock guitar-teachers at the conservatoires in the Nordic/Baltic region.
The aim of the course is to gather the best pedagogical practices in guitar-teaching through a mix of presentations on specific topics, debates, video presentations followed by "what's next" discussions, "hands-on" demonstrations, teaching-demonstration-sessions, tricks sharing and "problem-solving"-sessions, and jam-sessions. Because - besides talking the talk it's important to remember to actually play together - even at a serious conference like this!

Bach in the Baltics!

28 March - 3 April
Latvian Academy of Music

Bach will be visiting the Baltics this spring in the form of a NordClassic chamber orchestra consisting of students from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland.
Concentrating on the stylistics of the baroque period, the project aims to explain the participating students of historically informed performance and its importance performing on contemporary instruments.
Rehearsals, lectures and workshops will lead to two public concerts and more!

ANMA across arts

20 - 22 May
Iceland University of the Arts

ANMA Annual Meeting 2019 focuses on implementing cross-arts in the curricula. Although there are around 15 Nordplus networks within arts, design and architecture,  there has been little communication or collaboration between those networks - hopefully until now!

ANMA Thematic Day focuses on Exploring the Potential of Cross Arts Collaboration. Representatives of other Nordplus arts networks, IRCs and students are invited to the Thematic Day, followed by a meeting on Wednesday on the enhancement of further collaboration between the networks.

Registration is still open!

Restrospective: GENUS conference

14 - 15 March
University of Agder

The first round of the stimulating GENUS Conference took place last week in Kristiansand.
GENUS aims to raise awareness of gender and equality perspectives in Nordic higher music education with the goal to equip students, teachers and leaders with practical tools to make the gender balance more equal in the future. The participants were pumped to take the discussions back to their institutions and turn inspiration into action to make the change happen!

The progress check will be made in Aarhus, March 2020.

Coordinator spotlight

And the coordinator spotlight moves to:

Morten Tandrup

Study Coordinator / International Coordinator
Rhythmic Music Conservatory

What is your background?
I have always played music myself and ages ago (in the late 90’s) I studied electric bass at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus. That was before the merge of the rhythmic and classical department, so I was a part of a very small rhythmic institution (jazz, pop etc.) where everybody knew, played music and had fun with everybody - a truly wonderful time. And I just realized the fun fact that I now work at the only conservatory in Denmark (and maybe in Nordplus?) that educates in rhythmical genres only.

My life as a musician has brought me several places and enormous pleasure through the years. I played almost every genre that exists, but enjoy singer/song writer, jazz and pop the most.. at least at the moment (and yeah ok.. playing funky grooves is also fun as a bass player).
After my graduation I continued playing, but I also realized that I...
